PROJECT INTRODUCTION

PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Sue Foundation and FDF are two distinct and autonomous non-profit organizations committed to the advancement, preservation, and advocacy of the fundamental rights of Indigenous communities. At present, Sue Foundation and FDF have forged a collaborative partnership to address some of the pressing challenges that Palicelu confronts in its daily existence. These challenges include, but are not limited to, the critical lack of access to clean water, inadequate provision of essential school supplies, and the absence of a functional kitchen facility within the school premises to cater to the nutritional needs of both students and teachers alike.

The Wayúu

The Wayúu Community and Palicelu

The Wayuu indigenous community, residing in the Guajira Peninsula between Colombia and Venezuela, exudes a vibrant cultural heritage. Known for their intricate craftsmanship, they create colorful mochilas and hammocks that narrate stories of their ancestry. With a strong emphasis on family and a matriarchal social structure, the Wayuu cherish their oral history and customs, reflecting a profound connection to their roots and a remarkable resilience in preserving their identity.

Palicelu, on the other hand, represents an indigenous settlement that forms an integral part of the expansive Wayúu community situated in La Guajira, Colombia.

School Project

The Sue Foundation has undertaken the restoration of the educational facilities at the indigenous community of Palicelu's school. Furthermore, they have provided the school with essential educational materials.

Kitchen Project

The culmination of tireless efforts materialized as Sue Foundation and FDF successfully provided the community with a new kitchen, a significant accomplishment that had been developed over months in collaboration with local developers from a distance. This valuable addition to the infrastructure would undoubtedly enhance the daily lives of the residents.
